At first it was the blue against concrete that caught my eye, but then I noticed the textures and patterns. Then it was how weird the wording of the sign was.
I've never done this before: published two editions of the same photo. But here we go. The other one is how I envision the shot would be seen by a black and white pin-hole camera on grainy film (made with the excellent Nik plug-in called Silver Efex 2.0).This other one is a three-part HDR that preserves the original red color of the concrete (I changed nothing in the saturation or luminance of the colors). Early viewers of these pictures urged me to put that version in. I hope you enjoy them both.

Old stairs in the corner of the now vacant and very old Seaholm power plant in Austin, TX. This shadow/silhouette of a staircase, and the small light to the left of it, caught my eye while I was waiting on the exposure for another shot. It was so dark in here, that I shot this at 1,600 ISO at f/8 for 5 seconds.

This is the main chamber of the Seaholm power plant in Austin, TX. It's a three-part HDR taken at 1,600 ISO. Lots of color, light, structure, and paths to keep your mind occupied. Imagine this as part of a Halloween party!
This set of controls in the massive Seaholm power plant was covered in dust, and the light (helped along with a little vignetting from me in post) is about as industrial as you can get.
This massive overhead hook, used to move large power generators, needs a person in it for scale, but alas, I was the only person allowed inside the plant. This is a three-part HDR that I tweaked until I could see the markings in the hook from when it was originally made. Taken at 300mm.
