This sign, pointing to San Juan Ixcoy, Huehuetenango, has a blank so that they can update the number of inhabitants. When I snapped this (1998 with Mamiya 7), they had 206 people. This high plain is one of the highest points in Central America.
This reminded me of a moonscape. It's a very high valley (ca. 11,000') you'll find in the Cuchumatanes mountain range NE of Huehuetenango, in Guatemala. It's the land of sheep and potatoes.
