I lived in Guatemala from 1965-1978, so it's formed a ripe subject of my photography.

I didn't notice the mop until I was finished. Duh. What I do like about the image, though, is that it violates a basic tenet of photography: don't put a huge pillar in the middle foreground. Aldous Huxley called this one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I'd have to agree. I spent a week paddling around the perimeter of this amazing place. I just happened upon this beach after renting a jeep and exploring. This effect was created with the "duplex" filter within Color Efex Pro. Mamiya RZ-67. 1991.
