Shot in the Catedral Primada, the first church of the new world (in other words, the oldest church of the western hemisphere). It's of a wooden circular staircase around a thick stone column. The high contrast, shiny black paint, and interested shadows cast by the spindles makes for an interesting combination when you stare at it a minute.

Near midnight, in practically pitch dark, I experimented on this old stone fort with wooden closures and steel bar frame. I used two radio (Canon ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter) controlled lights (Canon Speedlight 600 EX-RT x2), both off-camera, to achieve the effect.

Fortaleza Ozama, a fortress built in 1502. It's on a steep hill above a river, and from here the Spanish launched conquests to what became Jamaica, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, and Columbia. It's the oldest colonial military building in the western hemisphere, built here because it's where Christopher Columbus first came.
