retake > A "corner" from a pillar in the first church of the new world (in other words, the oldest church of the western hemisphere). This shows centuries of discoloration, and I was really struck by the shades and curves. I've made it into a wall poster and actually wrap it around a corner at home.
retake > Shot in the Catedral Primada, the first church of the new world (in other words, the oldest church of the western hemisphere). It's of a wooden circular staircase around a thick stone column. The high contrast, shiny black paint, and interested shadows cast by the spindles makes for an interesting combination when you stare at it a minute.
retake > Vaulted ceiling in the rear portion of the Catedral Primada, the first church of the new world (in other words, the oldest church of the western hemisphere). What seemingly arbitrary lines, creating interesting shadows and shades. Can you imagine building something like this with the tools they had available?
retake > Fortaleza Ozama, a fortress built in 1502. It's on a steep hill above a river, and from here the Spanish launched conquests to what became Jamaica, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, and Columbia. It's the oldest colonial military building in the western hemisphere, built here because it's where Christopher Columbus first came.
