retake > This was an experiment with an off-camera flash, triggered by the on-camera flash via IR. The former was aimed back at the camera to get the key reflections and to cast the near side of the black keys in shadow.
retake > This was an experiment with an off-camera flash, triggered by the on-camera flash via IR. The former was aimed back at the camera to get the far side "ghost" images of the hands. This was a long exposure, with that "ghost" image captured with a quick flash while the shutter was open.
retake > Nate firing the Springfield Armory XD(m) 9mm at an indoor range. Notice the small light leak as the slide returns to battery.
retake > A colorful bus in Antigua, Guatemala. I captured the sense of motion with a 1/10 second exposure at f/22.0. Notice that the lettering on the blue wall is crisp (I set the camera on a post).
retake > This was done with a technique called "light painting"--the motorcycle was put on the center stand so that the rear wheel could spin freely. Then, while I spun the wheel with one hand, I "painted" it with an LED flashlight with the other, all the time with the shutter open.
retake > Taken while shooting for a half day at a "tractor graveyard" in Silver Lake, IN, with Bob List (a professional photographer from Warsaw, IN). The upper half of the windshield was silvered, and it reflected what was in front of the tractor. The light was streaming through the back of the cab, creating a second steering wheel. It's a confusing image, which is why I liked it. Mamiya RZ-67. 1994.
